An UWA spread-spectrum communication system was designed and realized by using the good performances of anti-multipath,anti-jamming and low SNR diction of spread-spectrum communication technology.

Shallow water acoustic channels introduce long multipath spreads and rapid time variations that deteriorate the performance of digital communication systems.

In order to achieve high data rates on the severely band-limited underwater acoustic channels, bandwidth-efficient modulation techniques must be employed, together with some sophisticated signal processing algorithms, such as adaptive equalization technique for the intersymbol interference caused by channel multipath propagation.
