The Relationship among Dictionary-Use Patterns,English Proficiency and Vocabulary Competence

Non-English majors English proficiency is under the influence of several factors, lexical effects being a major one of them.

Besides learning styles, another two factors-English proficiency and gender -are also taken into consideration.

According to the demand of the quality education, based on the investigation and analysis, this passage discusses the method of promoting the level of English study of the college students in our university, and advocates taking the distinguished-degrees teaching method in connection with students’ English level.

Based on the achievements of 1994 postgraduate English Qualification Examination in Henan Province (Zhengzhou University of Technology),it makes a quantitative analysis upon the mutual relationship between the English level and its influential factors by applying the fuzzy proximity theory and finds out the major factors affecting the English level,which is of great imp.

This paper expounds the necessity of strengthening the English learning of librarians in the information times, analyzes on the present situation of English level of librarians and the existing problems, and advances some measures for increasing the English level of librarians.

Based on Schema theory, this research tries to study the compensatory nature of English language proficiency and academic background knowledge in EAP reading.
