| 马拉雅兰人 Malayalams 南亚印度民族。分布在印度喀拉拉邦境内。绝大部分属达罗毗荼人种类型。使用马拉雅兰语或泰米尔语，属达罗毗荼语系南方语族。有独特的圆形体字母。信仰印度教、基督教或伊斯兰教。普遍敬奉蛇神。历史上雅利安人进入喀拉拉地区后，与当地达罗毗荼人发生混合，形成马拉雅兰人中的婆罗门种姓及部分中间种姓 （即非婆罗门，又非首陀罗）。中间种姓在寺庙里做服务性工作，靠婆罗门施舍度日。首陀罗中地位最低的是各种工匠、农民和渔民。此外还有不可接触的贱民 ，他们之中又有高低贵贱之分。约在8世纪末 ，阿拉伯商人来到喀拉拉定居，同当地妇女婚配，其后裔就是姓茂布莱的穆斯林。其中有些人经营商业或从事政治活动。公元初年前后，马拉雅兰人曾建喀拉拉国，后不断被切割成土邦。1947年，与国内其他民族一起赢得国家独立。1956年建语言邦。仍保持母系社会和大家族制。 |
