olfactory displays
嗅觉显示器(olfaetory displays)利用嗅觉通道向人传递信息的装置。嗅觉显示器是用物质(固体、液体或气体)散发的气味作为传递信息的手段，在某些特殊场合可用作报警装置。例如，在地下矿井里，借助通风设备释放出某种气味难闻的物质(如臭氧)，可告知井下作业人员发生了险情，嗅觉显示器具有显示距离远、费用低的优点，但由于人们对各种气味的感受性有很大差别，以及嗅觉容易适应等原因，嗅觉显示器未得到普遍应用。 (许百华撰朱祖样审)
