性质:俗名黍胶质。玉米的蛋白质。白色或淡黄色粒状或薄片状。密度约1.226。商品含量不少于92%。能溶于90%乙醇、丙醇、乙酸、苯酚等,也能溶于1.4%苛性钠或1.97%苛性钾水溶液。不溶于水,但能吸收水分2%~10%。未干燥时或在溶剂内放置日久,即变性而难溶于上述溶剂。在干燥状态下,在135℃以下也不分解。用途很广,可用作药丸胶衣、三夹板和软木板胶合剂、发泡剂、乳化剂,也用于制涂料、水溶性油墨和化学纤维等。由淀粉厂的黄浆制得。
