【性状】
本品为淡黄色或黄色的软膏。
【鉴别】
取本品约0.5g，加0.1mol/L硫酸溶液5ml,置水浴上加热使溶解，冷却， 倾取水层，加硫酸2ml ，缓缓摇匀，即显红棕色。
【检查】
应符合眼膏剂项下有关的各项规定（附录Ⅰ G）。
【含量测定】
取本品适量，精密称定（约相当于红霉素10mg），置分液漏斗中， 加石油醚20ml，缓缓振摇，使基质溶解，用磷酸盐缓冲液(pH7.8～8.0)提取4 次，每次 约25ml，合并提取液，置100ml 量瓶中，加磷酸盐缓冲液(pH7.8～8.0)稀释至刻度，摇匀， 照红霉素项下的方法测定。
