阅读不能症(reading disability)一种儿童期的学习能力障碍。与其他同龄、同等智力、教育和社会文化背景相同的儿童比较，该儿童有异常的阅读发展，在无干预情况下，此症持续存在，这是因为某些大脑皮质功能缺陷。证实阅读不能症常用排除法:(1)阅读不能症不是阅读技能丧失或开始时阅读明显发展以后停滞不前，而是阅读不能适当地取得进展。(2)阅读不能症不是低智儿童的阅读迟缓，而是智力正常儿童出现特殊的阅读迟缓。(3)阅读不能症不是阅读失败并伴有其他多数课程如算术等的失败，而单单是阅读(和拼写)的失败。其特点表现在:儿童视觉辨认印刷字体的缺陷，阅读元音、辅音上的错误，默读时识词缺陷，口头读句时省略或添加词汇，阅读速度过慢，阅读记忆力差，书写和听写困难。 份星明撰赵亚志市)
