形态特征子实体中等至大型，白色。菌盖直径5-18cm，初期扁半球形，中央下凹呈脐状，最后呈漏斗状，表面光滑或平滑，不粘，无环带、边缘内卷后平展。菌肉厚，白色，伤后变色不明显或淡黄色，乳汁白色不变，味很辣。菌褶白色，窄，很密，分叉，延生。菌柄短粗，无毛，长2-6cm，粗1-3cm，等粗或向下渐细，内部实心。孢子印白色。孢子无色，近球形，有小疣或粗糙，6.5-8.5μm×5-6.5μm，褶侧囊体和缘囊体纺缍状或梭形至近柱形，顶部钝或锐，26-65μm×5.5-10μm。

生态习性夏秋季多生于阔叶林中地上，散生或群生。

经济用途可食用，但需煮沸、浸泡加工后食用。此种含类树脂物质，有人食用引起呕吐反应。据记载，对小白鼠肉瘤180和艾氏癌的抑制率分别为80和70。
