形态特征子实体中等至大型,白色。菌盖直径5-18cm,初期扁半球形,中央下凹呈脐状,最后呈漏斗状,表面光滑或平滑,不粘,无环带、边缘内卷后平展。菌肉厚,白色,伤后变色不明显或淡黄色,乳汁白色不变,味很辣。菌褶白色,窄,很密,分叉,延生。菌柄短粗,无毛,长2-6cm,粗1-3cm,等粗或向下渐细,内部实心。孢子印白色。孢子无色,近球形,有小疣或粗糙,6.5-8.5μm×5-6.5μm,褶侧囊体和缘囊体纺缍状或梭形至近柱形,顶部钝或锐,26-65μm×5.5-10μm。

生态习性夏秋季多生于阔叶林中地上,散生或群生。

经济用途可食用,但需煮沸、浸泡加工后食用。此种含类树脂物质,有人食用引起呕吐反应。据记载,对小白鼠肉瘤180和艾氏癌的抑制率分别为80和70。
