它是碳电阻温度计的一种改进型。从硼硅碱性玻璃中除去富硼相，留下直径约为30nm的硅酸盐球面状的材料，随机分布成3～4nm的分离孔隙，然后在间隙中充以高纯碳，形成无定形的碳纤维，最后切割成约5mm×2mm×1mm片状物，引上电极，在100℃下加热24小时以除去水汽和其他气体，然后在氦气氛中封入铂外壳。其灵敏度是温度的单值函数，其温度的分度公式为：
