分子量1500～5000的乙烯聚合物统称聚乙烯蜡。WE型聚乙烯蜡又称高分子蜡，是一种聚烯烃合成高分子蜡。白色半透明，密度0.9，软化点96℃，粘度(140 ℃)550mPa·s。软化点虽高，而熔融粘度却很低，分散性、流动性好，与聚烯烃有良好的相容性。同时，还具有室温下抗湿性，耐化学药品性和优良电性能等特点。
用作增稠剂，参考用量约1％，使用时将10phr聚乙蜡加人到90phr甲苯中，加热90～100℃，迅速搅拌并使透明液冷却到60 ℃左右。加入冷甲苯100phr，迅速冷却成为分散液。然后继续搅拌冷却到30℃备用。WE型聚乙烯蜡也可用于制备热熔胶粘剂。贮存于阴凉、通风的库房内，远离火源。
