当一种基因型在一定的环境中发育,形成了相应的表现型,这种基因的作用得以外显。但也有随着环境(包括基因环境)的变化,基因型不能形成相应的表现型,这叫外显不完全。在常染色体显性遗传中,有时会发生隔代遗传的现象,理论上应该患病的人类表现型却是正常的,这就是外显率低的表现。
