According to the demand on carbon segregation degree from steel cord production,thermal diffusion experiment was carried out on 72A cord steel billets to investigate the effect of heating parameters on central maximal carbon segregation degree and thereby guide to establish the parameters of heating process.

The medium and high carbon steels were quenched with and without magnetic field in the self-made quench tank,the austenite transformation in the NaCl solution was studied,and the microstructure change after phase transformation was observed.
