      根据教学目的,控制、激励和调节师生的教学活动和鉴定教学效果的教学环节。通过检查和评定,教师可从中发现教学上的成败,研究改进教学;学生能从中获得矫正性信息,调整自己的学习;学校领导可了解教学的情况,采取相应的改进措施;学生家长也能了解子女的学习情况,配合学校指导和督促学生的学习。
  
  检查学生的学业成绩,一般有考试、考查两种形式(见考试、考查)。评定学生的学业成绩,一般采用百分制记分法和等级制记分法(见成绩评定)。检查和评定学生的学业成绩是定期的、连续的,经常利用提供的反馈信息,增强学生的学习的自觉性和兴趣,改进学习方法,使检查和评定成为提高学习质量的动力和手段;同时逐步养成学生自我检查和评定学业成绩的能力。学业成绩的检查和评定,既有联系又有区别,往往是结合在一起进行的。学业成绩的检查,主要着眼于正确地把学生达到教学目的的程度加以数量化;学业成绩的评定则根据合理的标准,以检查的结果有多大价值为着眼点。
