本文以秋胡戏妻故事的发生地“桑间”与秋胡妻的采桑行为为切入点,结合中国古代文学中频繁出现的“桑林”意象与“采桑女”意象,分析秋胡戏妻故事形成的历史文化背景,指出从上古的桑林崇拜及桑中风俗到中古洁妇模式,中国古代桑林意象从原始的生殖崇拜逐渐演变为实在的人间礼俗,而劳作其间象征人类相诱相亲最初渴望的采桑女也逐渐演变成为断然拒绝无行男子纠缠的洁妇,秋胡妻形象就是这批洁妇的最早一个版本。

| 《秋胡戏妻》 中国元代杂剧作品。石君宝著。这是一则早在民间流传的故事，事见刘向《列女传》。唐有《秋胡变文》。写秋胡新婚才3日，即被征召入伍，妻罗梅英在家含辛茹苦,侍奉婆婆。财主李大户倚势谋娶，遭梅英拒绝。10年后，秋胡得官荣归，在桑园相遇，竟调戏梅英。梅英发现调戏自己的竟是盼望多年的丈夫，顿感羞辱，要求离异，迫于婆母之命，勉强相从。全剧充满喜剧色调，但又写出了妇女的不幸遭遇，讴歌了她们的反抗精神。语言本色，成就较高，今仍在舞台演出。 |
