用中国江苏宜兴丁蜀镇北黄龙山产的陶土(紫砂泥)制成的陶器。紫砂泥外观呈紫红色，质地柔软，结构致密，由水云母、高岭土、石英碎屑、赤铁矿等主要矿物组成，具有良好的可塑性。宜兴紫砂陶器的造型大体可分为几何形、自然形、筋纹形和仿古形等几大类。通过点、线、面的巧妙组合与泥色的浑然配置，集造型、色泽、书画、诗词、雕刻于一体，使紫砂陶器别具一格。宜兴紫砂陶器通常采用绞泥、浮雕、镂刻、填泥和银丝镶嵌等装饰手法。生产的品种有餐具、茶具、文具、雕塑和陈设工艺品共2000多种，年产量达800万件。其中以紫砂茶壶最具特色，造型典雅大方，色泽古朴浑厚，既可供人欣赏，又是优良的饮茶用具。
