      国际博物馆协会为实现博物馆的宗旨而制定的规范。1984年由国际博物馆协会咨询委员会设立的博物馆职业道德委员会起草,1985年7月经咨询委员会讨论,1986年11月 4日提交国际博物馆协会第十四次大会表决通过。
  
  准则分序言、职业道德规范、职业道德行为 3部分,共 8条。序言部分强调国际博物馆协会是非官方的国际学术团体;博物馆是一个不追求营利、为社会和社会发展服务的、对外开放的永久性机构,其收集、保藏、研究、传播和陈列是为了研究、教育和游览;博物馆专业人员是受过专门培训的、遵守博物馆职业道德准则的工作人员;决策实体是负责制定博物馆工作方针、经费支配和行政管理的最高权力机构。
  
  职业道德规范部分分博物馆管理的基本原则、博物馆藏品的征集工作、博物馆藏品的处置 3个方面,分别规定了博物馆必须遵守的职业道德。
  
  职业道德行为部分,分总则、个人对藏品的责任、个人对社会的责任、对同事和专业所应承担的责任 4部分,规定了博物馆专业人员所应遵循的职业道德。
