    形态特征:苋科苋属一年生草本植物。高80厘米至1.5米。茎通常分枝。叶卵状椭圆形至披针形,长4-10厘米,宽2-7厘米,除绿色外,常呈红色、紫色、黄色或绿紫杂色。花单性或杂性,密集成簇,花簇球形,腋生或密生成顶生下垂的穗状花序。胞果矩圆形,盖裂。 
    生境分布:原产于热带美洲,现我国各地均有栽培。
    用途:嫩茎叶为蔬菜。全草药用,有解毒功效。种子可治眼疾。
