Research on the Web-based College English Autonomous Listening Teaching & Learning Model;

Based on the concept and ideas of learner autonomy, combined with the analysis of the characteristics of listening and the teacher’s role under autonomous learning environment, the thesis is intended to make an empirical study of non-English majors’autonomous listening to address the present situation of autonomous listening implemented in some universities and colleges.

Cultivation of learner autonomy in listening ability is of vital importance for language aquaitance.

Web can create an ideal cognitive environment that can not be taken shape in classroom,and what is more,it can construct a good platform for carrying out student-centered and self-controlled listening practice,which can bring students activeness and creativity into full play.

To explore the superiority of autonomous listening class under the teaching reform program, a comparative analysis is conducted about the use of the listening metacognitive strategies of the students who take regular listening class and the students who take autonomous listening class.

Studies devoted specifically to investigating students’autonomous listening can barely be spotted; furthermore, in China, the relevant studies mainly take non-English majors as their subjects.

Autonomous listening (AL), as a new course designed for non-English major postgraduates, plays an important role in the teaching of English listening.
