When people make requests, they always resort to the politeness strategy, which can be easily accepted by hearers, so as to achieve their goals of requests.
从直接请求,到非常规间接请求,到组合请求再到常规间接请求,礼貌层级随之递增,但这是请求语礼貌级别在句子层次上的体现,具体到某一情景里请求的礼貌级别会依据交际双方的权利、社会距离、年龄、性别及交际的时间、地点和请求本身的内在压力以及交际双方所处的文化环境而有所变化,也就是说,在某一情景里礼貌的请求语,在另一情景里有可能是礼貌的,也有可能是不礼貌的;相反在某一情景里不礼貌的请求语在另一情景里也可能是礼貌的。
