王先民，名醇，扬州人。性豪宕，善射。从季父游长安，挟歌姬，日醉市楼。一日突入演武场，方大阅，先民引弓发矢连破的，掣双剑无霎，忽如崩雷，将军降阶执其手，欲举以冠军。笑谢曰：“家本儒生，聊相戏耳。”还家父母命之室，以羸疾辞，为其两弟纳妇，巳而脱身，遍游吴越山水，参一雨禅师受优婆塞戒，居山日诵莲华经，巳而归扬州之慈云庵，虔修净业。颜其居曰“宝蕊栖”，自知时至，结跏趺坐，请僧环诵佛号而逝。(明文偶钞)
