表征磁场基本性质的一个定理。它指出，由任一闭合面穿出的净磁通等于零，即穿出的磁通等于穿入的磁通，而其代数和为零式中B为磁通密度,S为任一闭合面。此式表明磁力线是连续的，都是既无始端又无终端而围绕着电流的闭合线。根据实验，磁力线是电流建立的，包括传导电流与分子电流等。这些磁力线都是闭合的曲线。
该原理的微分形式可借助于散度定理导出，为墷·B=0上式表明，磁场中任一点的磁通密度的散度必为零，即磁场为无散场。该式可以由毕奥－萨伐尔定律及矢量恒等式得出。
