虎跳峡,又称“金沙劈流”,位于丽江玉龙雪山与哈巴雪山之间,全长15千米,从江西到山顶高差达3千多米,是世界上最深的大峡谷。共分上虎跳、中虎跳和下虎跳等三部分。两岸均如刀削斧砍,陡峭险绝。谷底狭窄,最窄处仅有30余米。传说有虎能一跃而过,因而得名。揣急的江 水,如万马奔腾,夺路而出,流速达每秒6-8米。峡内涛声如雷,浪花飞溅,惊心动魄,险峻奇绝,是探险旅游的好去处。
