白族流传最广的一种民歌。每首大多由八个诗句组成。第一句通常是三个音节的韵头，第二、三句为两个七字句，第四句是一个五字句，第五、六、七句是三个七字句，第八句是一个五字句，故一般简称为三七七五七七七五。从诗段上看，前四句为上阕，后四句为下阕，据说白族调有三十六个韵头，它主要用于每首白族调的开头，起定韵的作用，其余七句即按韵头押尾字韵。句式是三七七五七七七五的，二、四、六、八句的尾字押韵;句式是七七五、七七七五或七三五、七七七五的,一、三、五、七句的尾字押韵。内容多反映生产、风俗和爱情生活。
