| 常德市 简称常。位于中国湖南省西北部。沅江下游和澧水中下游，东滨洞庭，西通黔川，南毗益阳，北连荆襄。辖安乡、汉寿、澧县、临澧、桃源、石门6县，代管省辖县级市津市市 。人口540.7万（市区人口113.44万）。汉族为主，有维吾尔、回、土家、苗族等24个少数民族。楚顷襄王二十二年（前277），秦蜀郡守张若在今常德东筑城以守，常德有城自此而始。南宋乾道元年（1165）改鼎州为常德。1988年6月，撤销常德地区，建立省辖常德市。属北亚热带湿润气候区。油茶、油桐林广布山地与丘陵，石门县为中国重点桐油产区。森林面积7460平方千米，树种达670余种。属国家保护树种有蓖子三尖杉、珙桐等24种，以产杉、松、南竹为主。珍贵野生动物有虎、豹、熊、麝、毛冠鹿、大鲵、穿山甲等。名贵药材有天麻、黄连等。澧县以药用蜈蚣闻名。经济以农业为主。平原区为重要耕作区。主要作物有水稻、棉花、油菜、豆类等。水产养殖鱼类20余种，并有中华鲟、白鲟、鳗等名贵鱼类。饲养业以“石门羚羊”、“桃源三阳鸡”为著名良种。工业有纺织机械、卷烟、纺织印染、工程机械、农副产品加工、制盐等。乡镇企业遍布市境。雄黄藏量居全国首位，盐居省内第一，金刚石、磷储量丰富，桃源石质地优良。有屈原庙、明茶王府、四眼井、笔架城、铁经幢等多处名胜古迹。桃花源位于市区西南32千米处。索溪风光与国家森林公园张家界构成武陵源风景区。石门壶瓶山自然保护区是全国保存最好的森林基因库之一。 |
