人民检察院建议停止执行的职权：临场监督执行死刑的检察人员应当依法监督执行死刑的场所、方法和执行死刑的活动是否合法。在执行死刑前，发现有下列情形之一的，应当建议人民法院停止执行： （一）被执行人并非应当执行死刑的罪犯的； （二）罪犯犯罪时不满十八岁的； （三）判决可能有错误的； （四）在执行前罪犯检举揭发重大犯罪事实或者有其他重大立功表现，可能需要改判的； （五）罪犯正在怀孕的。――――《人民检察院刑事诉讼规则》第416条
