      彩调作品。作者牛秀、邓几平、黄勇刹、曾昭文。1959年,由柳州市彩调剧团演出。故事取材于壮族民间传说。描写古代壮家民间歌手刘三姐,随胞兄刘二乘舟投亲,路遇财主莫怀仁的管家欺压乡民,三姐唱山歌驱走管家,救出渔民小牛之妹。莫怀仁欲娶三姐为妾,遣媒说亲;三姐以莫府对歌得胜方能成婚为答复。莫怀仁重金聘请陶、李、罗三秀才与三姐对歌,遭惨败,竟勾结官府禁歌;三姐布歌阵抗禁,最后奋身坠岩,骑鱼升天。刘三姐或刘三妹的故事在广西、广东的汉、壮、傜等族群众中广为流传。到处飘泊、四乡传歌的刘三姐,因善用山歌赞美自然、歌颂劳动和反抗压迫,深受人民爱戴,被誉为歌仙。彩调剧本中的刘三姐形象比较鲜明,刻画了这个民间歌手的反抗性格和斗争智慧。全剧以山歌贯串始终,在"盘歌"、"对歌"、"禁歌"、"传歌"等主要情节中,再现了古代壮族人民以"乐歌相语"的生活习俗,形成了独特的艺术风格。1960年,广西壮族自治区在南宁举行《刘三姐》专戏会演。大会以柳州彩调剧本为基础,吸收各剧种演出本的优点,改编为 8场民间歌舞剧《刘三姐》。1978年,《刘三姐》摄制成彩色艺术影片。
