This paper, by investigating the transformation of law in the transitional period of Tang and Song, asserts that after Song Shenzong s “Reform of Law”, edicts or imperial orders assume the position of law, and are used to judge cases without referring to the law.

The imperial decrees written by Zhang-jiuling in "The songs gathered at Qujian" recorded both the history of the infringement on four towns by Tuqishi Sulu in the year of Kaiyuan 22 to 24 and the country s strategy of "far-off relations and close hostilities",which has such important historical value as to replenish the record scarce of Jiu Tang Shu,Xin Tang Shu,and Zi Zhi Tong Jian.

By the textual research of the historical data on the conferred construction of Mazu Temples in the three dynasties of Yuan,Ming,Qing,this paper probes the significance and generality reflected and undertaken by Mazu belief at different historical stages.
