梅河口市区和平街有一座二层楼，它建于1936年，总建筑面积1622平方米。
中共中央东北局梅河口会议，1946年3月6日，就是在这里召开的。这次会议是经毛泽东主席批准，由彭真同志主持、林彪、罗荣桓、张闻天、高岗、伍修权、陈正人、周桓、吕正操、李富春等参加了会议。
会议的主题是讨论毛主席、中央军委提出的攻打长春和四平的决策。
1984年7月28日，全国人大常委会委员长彭真同志来到梅河口视察工作，挥笔题写了：“中共中央东北局梅河口会议会址”14个苍劲的大字。
