Descriptive translation studies (DTS) represents a new approach to translation studies developed in the 1970s in the western world, which not only broadens the horizon of translation studies, but swerves its focus to target-orientedness and target culture.

With the development of descriptive translation studies, a new methodology of corpus study has been introduced to the investigation of translators style through large-scale linguistic description, cultural explanation and exploration.
