| 蒙恬(？～前210) 中国秦代将领。祖居齐国，祖父蒙骜、父亲蒙武皆为秦名将。少时学狱法，后为狱官。秦始皇二十六年 (前221)参加灭齐有功，任内史。秦统一六国之际 ，匈奴乘机南下，占据河南地(今内蒙古伊克昭盟一带) 。三十二年，蒙恬受命率军30万北击匈奴，次年收复河南地，击退匈奴 700余里，屯兵上郡(今陕西榆林东南)。蒙恬吸取战国时期据险防御的经验，从榆中(今属甘肃)沿黄河至阴山构筑城塞，连接燕、赵、秦5000余里旧长城，并修筑北起九原 (今内蒙古包头西北)、南至云阳(今陕西淳化西北)的直道，构成了秦朝北方漫长的防御线。匈奴慑于蒙恬兵威，不敢进犯。三十七年，胡亥继位，蒙恬为权奸赵高诬陷，被迫自杀。 |
