柳山，又名飞来峰，在武宁县城西南十四公里处，山高568.9米。以其四周无它山相连，愈见独柱云天，一峰特秀。
山因唐代柳浑（官至丞相）读书其上而得名，柳浑之“读书台”，在山腰西侧平坦处，可坐数十人，距台数十步，有柳山洞。洞门附近，尚有“佛岩”和“龙岩”两处洞口。
在山的顶部，有四方棋盘石一个，面积大约3平方米，可坐四、五人。山的中下部，旧有书院，书院屡建屡毁，但一直坚持办学，沿袭到文革之初，堪称“千年学府”，武宁文人士子，多得其益；有贞公祠等建筑。六十年代，政府曾在柳山设林场、办中学。
