| 郴州市 位于中国湖南省东南部，耒水支流郴江两岸。人口约20万，汉族为主。秦于此置县。1958年置郴州市，属郴县。1963年并入郴县，1977年又析郴州镇复置郴州市（县级）。1994年撤销郴州地区、郴州市和郴县，设立地级郴州市，下辖桂阳、宜章、永兴、嘉禾、临武、汝城、桂东、安仁8县。市郊种植蔬菜、水稻。有杉、松、南竹、柑橘。矿藏有铅、锌、钨、煤等。工业有机械、棉织、卷烟、造纸、火柴等。名胜古迹有义帝陵和碑以及苏仙岭三绝碑等。
