乌江 长江上游支流。又称黔江、延江。跨中国贵州省北部和四川省东南部。北源六冲河出赫章县北,南源三岔河出威宁彝族回族苗族自治县东,两源汇合后称鸭池河。东北流到息烽县乌江渡以下始称乌江口。经思南县、沿河县等,至四川省酉阳土家族苗族自治县龚滩,折向东北流,在涪陵入长江,长1037千米(其中贵州境内874千米)。支流众多,呈羽状水系分布,主要支流有六冲河、猫跳河、湘江、清水江、濯河、洪渡河、郁江、芙蓉江等。流域面积8.79多万平方千米。从河源到乌江渡为上游,长448千米,落差1636米,平均比降3.65‰,河谷切割深,坡陡流急。从乌江渡到贵州沿河县城为中游,长346千米,落差336米,平均比降0.97‰。从沿河县城到四川的涪陵河口为下游 ,长 243千米,落差152米,平均比降0.62‰。自中游余庆县构皮滩出峡谷后,江面展宽到200多米,水势平缓 ,但礁石、险滩多。流域内山峦起伏,石灰岩地层分布广泛,多溶洞、伏流。流域内年均径流总量503亿立方米。水力资源理论蕴藏量1042.59万千瓦,可开发的水力资源有266处,装机容量846.01万千瓦,是水电宝地。余庆县以下可通航。
