描述CalycanthusLinn.夏蜡梅属，蜡梅科，约4种，分布于北美洲，世界各地均有引种栽培，我国有C.chinensisChengetS.Y.Chang1种，产浙江昌化和天台等地，另外，在江西庐山还引种有C.floridusL.。落叶灌木；枝条四方形至近圆形；芽不具鳞片，被叶柄基部所包围；叶膜质，两面常粗糙；花顶生，常有香气；花被片15－30，肉质或近肉质，形状各式，覆瓦状排列；雄蕊10－19，花丝短，被毛；不育雄蕊11－25，被毛；心皮10－35，每心皮有胚珠2颗；果托梨状，椭圆状或钟状。
