成本归集与成本分配，两者是密切联系、交错进行的。例如，对辅助生产费用进行归集、分配后，才能对制造费用进行归集和分配；制造费用的归集、分配完成后，才能对废品损失、停工损失进行归集、分配。等等。
成本分配，必须按照一定的标准进行。所选择的分配标准，必须与被分配的费用的发生有密切关系，否则要影响成本计算的正确性。选择分配标准也要适当考虑计算手续是否简便易行（参见制造费用分配等条目）
