强化固有观念理论恤inforce一inherent一sensetheory)美国传播学者认为，大众传媒对受传者固有立场、观点的稳定作用远远大于变动作用，即其主要效果是增强受传者的固有观念，而非改变其固有观念。具体来说可从五个方面发生影响:(l)传播媒介可为受传者提供支持其固有立场、观点和行为的有关情况，从而增强其固有观念。因为受传者一般总是希望从媒介中证实或支持自己的观念或行为。(2)在争议不大而且没有其他势力干预的问题上，传播媒介只要重复传播内容，就能直接改变受传者的行为。(3)传播媒介只要善于把一种新的观点或行为与受传者原有的价值观念和需要联系起来，就可以使受传者很快地接受这一新观点或行为，而不必改变其原有立场。(4)传播媒介可以通过提供情况证明受传者观念和行动的正确性去支持受传者已采取的行动。(5)传播媒介可以通过提供有关情况，把受传者的固有立场与新发生的事件联系起来，即实现其引导作用。 (王序荪撰戚立夫审)
