| 道士 信奉道教教义并修习道术的教徒的通称。道士一般是师徒相传，入道后，唯道是务，拜忏诵经，燃灯烧香，不务杂尘。但古代有的道士，虽拜师入道，而专门从事自我修炼，或著书立说。道士有出家和不出家的区别。金元以前大都是不出家住庵的道士。金元之际，全真道兴起，制定了出家制度。道士分全真派、正一派两大派，全真派道士必须出家住丛林，不娶妻，不茹荤。正一派道士大部分为不出家道士，也称火居道士。道士也称道人、羽士、羽客、黄冠等。女道士则称道姑、坤道、女冠。
