| 雪鸡 Tetraogallus；snow cocks 鸡形目雉科雪鸡属鸟类的通称。外貌很像鹌鹑，但个体大得多，是鹑类中最大的。共5种 ，中国有两种：淡腹雪鸡和暗腹雪鸡。这两种雪鸡个体大小相似。成年雄鸟具短而钝的距，雌体稍小，脚上无距。通体羽色为土棕或红棕，密布以黑褐色蠹状斑纹。喉白，头和颈褐灰，翅上有大块白斑。淡腹雪鸡下胸和腹面污白，具黑色纵纹；暗腹雪鸡腹面暗灰，杂以棕色粗纹。体羽多棕褐，与所栖息的高山裸岩区的颜色近似。 雪鸡是世界上分布最高的鸡类，一般分布3000～6000米，直至雪线以上。在中国西部高山地带常见。当地称为西藏雪鸡或喜马拉雅雪鸡。中国的两种雪鸡在夏季可到达海拔8000米的山地。能终年留居山顶，冬季向林带上限或山谷游荡，利用有蹄类的脚印寻觅食物。 雪鸡以植物的茎、根、叶、芽等为食，有时兼吃昆虫和小型无脊椎动物。一般5～7月繁殖。在悬崖绝壁上筑巢，隐蔽在草丛或灌木下的岩石凹陷处，以枯枝、杂草构成，内铺草叶、羽毛。每窝产卵4～6枚，卵淡黄灰至带红的皮黄色，尖端具褐红色小点，重约56克，大小约为60毫米×43毫米。雪鸡栖息于高山，很难捕获。是中国国家二级保护动物。 |
