Based 0n the models of modern linguistics and the teaching experience, theauthor focuses on the importance of aural comprehension and illustraes the three teaching methods : basic teaching material training, dictation, extensive listening which can practicallyimprove the aural comprehension, and what s more, the grades in CET-4, CET-6.

Based on the theory which requires students to set comprehensive goals In advance, our teachers should guide the students from the English teaching of listening, speaking as well as extensive listening after class to improve the students listening ability.

College English teachers should guide students to find the breakthrough points in English listening by way of enlarging vocabulary and combine intensive listening in class with extensive listening after class to develop their English listening comprehension abilities efficiently.

This article suggests that listening should be improved from these following aspects : situation, pronunciation, vocabulary, training skills, enriching the social culture, intensive and comprehensive listening, etc.
