| 小五台山 位于中国华北平原西北，是冀北山地的组成部分。因五峰突起，又有东五台之称，为别于佛教名山的五台山，故名小五台山。原系军都山的支脉——灵山向西突出部分。海拔2870米。东西长约40千米，南北宽45千米。为褶皱断块山。最高者为北台，最低者为东台，北、中、东、西四台均有如刀刃般的山梁所连接，唯南台为孤峰。在佛教昌盛时期，也曾一度为佛教圣山。自然景观成垂直分异，山脚（1000米以下）是带状洪积冲积扇，多黄土堆积；山麓(1000～1700米)为阔叶森林、灌丛；山腰（1700～2500米）生长以桦、柳、椿和油松、云杉、侧柏等针叶阔混交林。1984年建立了小五台山自然保护区。保护区内高等植物674种，兽类、两栖、爬行动物30种，鸟类56种，昆虫1500余种。 |
