In this paper six kinds of coatings were fabricated on 45 steel by thermal spray methods, they are WC-12Co, WC-CoCr, two kinds of different thickness WC-10Co4Cr, conventional Al_2O_3-13%TiO_2 and nanostructured Al_2O_3-13%TiO_2 coatings respectively.

The conventional and nanostructured Al2O3-13%TiO2 ceramic coatings were prepared by plasma spraying.
