      在织物表面涂覆或粘合一层高分子材料,使其具有独特的功能。涂层的织物主要用于:雨衣、篷帐;家具布、贴墙布;防辐射线的消防服、宇航服等;建筑和交通运输的充气房屋、送风、送水管道等;微波屏蔽服、电绝缘胶带等;灭菌止痛各种膏药带;绒毯类织物背面的加固涂层,可防止绒毛或绒圈脱落。中国在春秋时期之前已开始利用漆液涂布以纤维为腔的用具。秦汉以来,漆液、桐油、荏油等涂布技术,已经推广。近代开始以硝化纤维素作为织物涂层材料,因易燃和易于老化,以后逐渐为合成的高分子聚合物所取代。涂层加工剂必须是具有一定粘附力,并可形成连续薄膜的物质,如聚氯乙烯、聚氨酯、氯磺化聚乙烯、聚丙烯酸酯以及天然橡胶和合成橡胶等。在涂层高分子材料中,增加一些添加剂,可使涂层织物另具特殊性能,如加入羟乙基纤维素、聚乙烯醇等材料,可获得既透湿气又防水的效果;加入含溴、含磷等制剂,可制成具有防火阻燃的涂层织物;加入金属、石墨等,可使涂层织物具有导电、防热辐射等特性。
  
  根据涂层材料的性质和织物结构,涂层的工艺方式可分为:①轧挤法:主要用于中厚织物的涂层,将乙烯类塑料或热塑性的橡胶加热至熔融状态,然后用辊筒轧压于织物表面。②刮刀法:将浆状的高分子材料用刮刀涂刮于织物上,适用于组织紧密的织物涂层工艺。③挤塑法:热塑性的高分子材料经挤塑机加热挤压成薄膜,然后与织物粘合在一起。④粘合法:将薄膜用粘合剂直接粘贴于织物上,对于热塑性薄膜可先加热软化,然后再与织物粘合。此法适用于针编织物或组织结构疏松的织物以及无纺织物的涂层。⑤喷涂法:将涂层剂溶解成稀薄的溶液,再用压缩空气通过喷嘴喷涂于织物表面。也可在真空箱内,利用熔融金属溅射直接进行涂层。⑥浸涂法:将涂层材料的溶液或浆状物,通过辊筒浸轧于织物上,制成单面或双面的涂层产品。
  
  
  
  
   
  
  近年来,为了减少涂层工艺中的热能消耗,还采用可聚合的单体作为稀释剂,再混以具有一定分子量的齐聚物,直接涂于织物表面,经加热或辐射线的作用而固化,既节约能量的消耗,又省去溶剂,减少公害。
