英国画家。生于诺丁汉，卒于伦敦。曾在伦敦塔军事绘图办公室工作，1745年以后从事苏格兰高地的测绘。后在温莎公园创作了大量作品。桑德贝擅长人物画，又是头一批用水彩画表现威尔士风景的画家，同时也画色粉笔画和油画，表现温莎的一些大型组画就是用色粉笔画的。他同时是头一个在英国试验用凹版腐蚀制版的人，也是英国皇家学院创建人之一。
