This article analyzes residential buildings floor area ratio, high-rise buildings core tube area and residential buildings basic plane, and puts forward the innovative concept of land-saving, comfortable residential buildings.

The result indicates that high rise residences in central district which are land-saving but insufficient in per-person green ratio and infrastructure, low-density villa residences in exurb are suitable for living but wasteful in land resource, and low density multi-story residences in outskirts are the optimal modes.

It is the important approach for improving the resources utilization effi-ciency and constructing a resource-saving and environmentally friendly city to greatly develop energy-saving and land-saving residential buildings.
