导弹采用捷联式惯性制导方式和单级双室发动机,并用预贮式液体推进剂,弹体用本国生产的轻铝合金,射程超过150千米。这种导弹可根据不同作战任务的需要,配用2种不同威力的战斗部。一种战斗部的重量为500千克,最大射程150千米,配用这种战斗部的导弹叫ss150型大地导弹。另一种战斗部的重量减至250千克,最大射程增至250千米,这种导弹叫ss250型挚蟮财导弹。印度还在研究一种导弹,进一步增大了发动机推力,最大射程可达到350千米。由于射程从150千米增大到了350千米,因而显著提高了在未来战场上使用的灵活性。它与苏联的飞毛腿和以色列的耶利哥相比,导弹的飞行速度更快,精度更高,威力更大。
