梵语阿难,华言庆喜。经云:佛语文殊师利言:阿难具足八法,能持十二部经,是故阿难为多闻藏。(梵语文殊师利,华言妙德。十二部经,一契经、二重颂、三讽颂、四因缘、五本事、六本生、七希有、八譬喻、九论议、十自说、十一方便、十二授记。)
[一、信根坚固],信,即信顺。根,即能生之义。谓阿难闻如来所说十二部经,信受坚固;由信心故,则能生长一切善法功德。华严经云:信是道源功德母,长养一切诸善法。是也。
[二、其心质直],质,即质朴之义。谓阿难闻如来所说十二部经,其心质直,常依正法而住,永离虚妄邪曲之见,故名其心质直。
[三、身无病苦],谓若世间人能以药物施人者,所感果报,尚得一生少病。何况阿难累劫熏修其利他之行,莫可测知,岂得现身有于病苦?故名身无病苦。(劫,梵语具云劫波,华言分别时节。)
[四、常勤精进],不杂,名精。无间,名进。谓阿难闻如来所说十二部经,一心受持,如法修习,无有懈怠,故名常勤精进。
[五、具足念心],谓阿难闻如来所说十二部经,心常忆念思惟,不令忘失,故名具足念心。
[六、心无憍慢],谓阿难闻如来所说十二部经,皆能忆持,而心不放逸,亦不敢憍慢于众,故名心无憍慢。
[七、成就定意],谓阿难既闻如来所说十二部经,能依此法修摄其心,得发禅定,故名成就定意。
[八、从闻生智],谓阿难闻如来所说十二部经,义趣无量,则智慧增明,无不了达,故名从闻生智。
