改革开放以后,仡佬族教育有很大发展,但仍存在各仡佬族地区发展不平衡,教育设施简陋,手段陈旧,观念滞后,资金短缺等问题。

| 仡佬族 中国少数民族。主要分布在贵州、广西、云南等省、自治区。人口43.8万（1990）。 仡佬族因人数少而居住分散，各地仡佬语差别很大。汉语是其主要交际工具，不少人会讲苗语、彝语或布依语。有人兼通3、4种语言。仡佬语属汉藏语系，语族、语支未定。无文字，通用汉文。仡佬族与古代居住在今贵州一带的僚人有密切的渊源关系。大约在2000年前，古代僚人就在贵州过着定居的农业生活。如今仡佬族的一些风俗习惯也还保持着与古代僚人相似的特征。民间口头流传的诗歌、故事、谚语较多。其风俗习惯已和邻近的汉族及其他民族大同小异。多数家庭为一夫一妻制小家庭。三代以上同堂的较少，男女在家中地位一般较平等。春节是仡佬族最隆重的节日，从正月初一到十五，举行各种娱乐活动，比较别致的是打花龙和打篾鸡蛋。农历十月初一过牛王节。信仰多神，崇拜祖先。有很多禁忌。如正月初一不扫地、不挑水、不煮生、不倒水于门前、不下地劳动等。
