为常染色体显性遗传，表现有很大变异。表现：2～10岁时，由于步态蹒跚及生长缓慢显现病状，轻到中度矮小，成人身高145～170cm。四肢骨骺骨化推迟，小而且不规则，斑点状。许多大关节，尤其髋和膝由于无关节软骨，发生骨关节炎，关节痛及僵直，在5岁时可主诉，一般30～35岁才出现。股骨颈短。骨干骺轻度展宽。掌骨及指骨短小。脊椎体边缘钝，稍呈卵圆形，有时扁平。
