一种生物碱,分子式C7H8N4O2。它存在于可可和茶叶中。1841年A.A.沃斯克列先斯基发现。可可碱的熔点351℃,290℃升华;微溶于水和乙醇,几乎不溶于苯、氯仿、石油醚、四氯化碳等溶液。它的化学性质与咖啡碱类似,其盐类在水溶液中极容易分解成游离碱和酸,而游离碱则较稳定。可可碱具有利尿、心肌兴奋、血管舒张、平滑肌松弛等作用。其半数致死量为200毫克/千克(猫口服)。
